From St. Moritz via Hamburg to the Nürburgring Nordschleife
September 2022 was a very special month for our company, Cropfiber GmbH, with its ASPHALTKIND brand!
Right at the beginning of the month, we celebrated the official market launch of our ASPHALTKIND roof box with a drive to St. Moritz for the Kilomètre Lancé, the "Top international Sprint for Record Breaking Vehicles".
Afterwards, following a brief stop at the stunning mountain serpentines in Munich, Ingolstadt, and the surrounding area, we headed toward Hamburg! There, we visited several hotspots for photo shoots and exposed the aerodynamic roof box to curious glances.
Across the Nürburgring Nordschleife with a roof box
Driving across the legendary track in the Eifel region is mandatory for all major automotive manufacturers, such as BMW, Audi, Porsche, Mercedes, and now Tesla as well. Naturally, this also makes it the ideal proving ground for our ASPHALTKIND roof box! Amidst prototype testing, tourist drives, and track-day enthusiasts, we took to the Ring under optimal conditions. Our objective: to prove that our roof box is engineered for high speeds.
Our professional racing driver, equipped with a helmet and racing suit and knowing the track inside out, did not spare the equipment. Both the vehicle and the roof box experienced extreme lateral and longitudinal G-forces that cannot be replicated in normal road traffic.
A lap time of 08:20 minutes clocked via the Sport Chrono Package and the noticeably worn-down shoulders of the street tires underscore the high cornering speeds achieved. Of course, this did not go unnoticed by spectators and photographers at Brünnchen, Schwalbenschwanz, and the Caracciola-Karussell, earning us plenty of photos, positive feedback, and engaging conversations!

The cornering speeds were kept just short of the threshold required to avoid ending up in the guardrail. The deceleration values—braking from high speeds into tight corner radiuses—were impressive and provided the exact terrain needed to test our high-performance brakes. focus on aerodynamics, stability, weight, and design. We are now proud to announce that we have achieved this goal. Our performance roof box is engineered for top speeds: it is certainly capable of exceeding 130 km/h.
This performance is precisely what continues to convince a growing group of customers for whom we have been manufacturing customized roof boxes tailored to individual specifications for several weeks now in our in-house production facility in Dortmund.
