No child dreams of owning a Nissan one day
Summer 1998:On the way to Hemmerde Elementary School “Someday I’m going to get a car like that…! Even if it’s just a model car.”
Summer 2005 – Summer 2010: Finally, you can configure your dream car online.
Summer 2012: A black Porsche Turbo makes a heart-stopping start from a stoplight. “The pedestrian light isn’t going to get any greener than this, Nils!”
Summer 2016: “Cool, Playmobil has a Porsche now. I’m not 4 anymore, but I’ll pretend it’s a birthday present for my niece.”
Summer 2018: “Here’s your key, and the papers are in the glove compartment. Have a safe trip!”

More InformationA childhood dream came true.
The car, which we already knew inside and out from countless videos, press reports, and auto shows, was finally parked in the right garage.
"Until now, I've always had to start the cars awkwardly with my left hand on the right side," says Nils (27), a left-hander.
The moment the car starts up, accelerates, or demonstrates its full braking power: a dream come true. Because the 911 leaves most cars in the dust when accelerating. And the rest when braking.
But enough gushing. Let's get to the point!
The Origin of the Asphalt Child
The day came when the “asphalt child” was conceived. And it happened with just one question and no chance to prevent it:
“What are we actually going to do with the car when we have a baby?! We’ll have to get rid of it, because there’s no room for a stroller or a car seat...”

Let's go to the baby store!
It didn't take long at all before my girlfriend and I were in the car on our way to the baby store.
"There's definitely room for a stroller in the front and a child seat in the back. I've already looked it all up on Google!"
Luckily, I was right. I mean, really, what a relief. Because there really was only one stroller model that fit.
Nevertheless, we had a space problem.
In conclusion, I set out to find a roof box. Since the whole process turned out to be more difficult than expected—but still very interesting—the blog Asphaltkind was born just a few weeks later.
The result: a wide variety of manufacturers, similar designs, and the same (negative) experiences over and over again. So I wasn't really happy with the solutions available.
Developing a New Roof Box for Us and You
In short: We decided pretty quickly to take matters into our own hands. And we did so without having to make any compromises just because we wanted to increase our cargo space with a roof box.
Although it was originally intended to be just a hobby project, we’ve already received countless requests for a roof box that meets both our needs and yours. We’ve also noticed the wide variety of models out there. As a result, we’re not just focusing on the 911, but also on other models from BMW, Audi, Mercedes, and even Tesla, for example!
In conclusion, it can be said that:
So if everything goes smoothly, I'll be able to keep the 911. It's set to hit the market in 2020. Our first child might even come along around then…
