The new Porsche 911 GT3 RS, internally designated 992, no longer has any storage space. What makes it special is that the front trunk has been eliminated in the 992 GT3 RS due to the cooling units. As in the Porsche 991 GT3 RS, the space behind the front seats is reserved for the club sport bar or roll cage.

So if you want to take a helmet, some luggage, and a passenger with you, you have to prove your packing skills by making use of the space in the cage compartments with flexible bags. Once you arrive at the racetrack or, optionally, the wellness hotel, you have to unload everything again, which is just as laborious as loading it, and, as with loading, you can work up quite a sweat due to the limited space.

The idea of solving the space problem with a roof box is obvious. Unfortunately, Porsche's GT3 models do not have any mounting points for suitable base racks, unlike their powerful relatives, the GTS or Turbo S, for example.

Engineering a solution for a roof box on the GT3 RS

The solution to the space problem in the 992 GT3 RS with a roof box sounds tempting. If you're driving to a track day, you can quickly remove the box. The same applies to a road trip through the Alps if you're staying in the same hotel for 2-3 days. If you're only making short overnight stops, you can leave the roof box on the car.

When doing this, and also when driving to the track, you naturally don't want to be restricted by the roof box. This is exactly where the ASPHALTKIND roof box shows its strengths. As our company founder Nils Freyberg said...

"We believe that you shouldn't notice a roof box. Except that you can carry more...

...and people stare at you."

Nils Freyberg

Founder & Managing Director of Cropfiber GmbH with the ASPHALTKIND brand

...during the development work and extensive testing of the box, full focus was placed on the factors of aerodynamics, stability, weight, and design. This means that the requirements

  • speeding,
  • little wind noise,
  • low weight for a low center of gravity and continued driving pleasure and
  • "Thumbs up" from passersby

covered!

Attaching the ASPHALTKIND roof box to the Porsche 992 GT3 RS

The GT3 RS is designed for performance and excitement. Since the perfect track to experience this isn't always right on your doorstep, you can currently follow on social media how many people actually have space issues with the GT3 RS.

We are currently working with ASPHALTKIND on a solution that will allow the ASPHALTKIND roof box to be mounted on the GT3 RS. The solution will also work on other vehicles, such as the Lamborghini STO, Porsche GT3, McLaren GT, and even a Koenigsegg.
