The new Porsche 911 GT3 RS, with the internal designation 992, no longer has any storage space. What makes it unique is that the front trunk of the 992 GT3 RS has been omitted to make room for the cooling units. As with the Porsche 991 GT3 RS, the space behind the front seats is reserved for the Clubsport roll bar or roll cage.
So if you want to bring a helmet, some luggage, and a passenger with you at the same time, you’ll have to show off your packing skills by using the flexible pockets in the spaces between the cages. When you arrive at the racetrack or, alternatively, the wellness hotel, you’ll unload everything again with great effort, and—just like when loading—you might work up a sweat because of the limited space available.
The idea of solving the space problem with a roof box is obvious. Unfortunately, Porsche’s GT3 models do not have any mounting points for suitable base supports, unlike their high-performance counterparts, the GTS and Turbo S.
Engineering a solution for a roof box on the GT3 RS
The solution to the space problem on the 992 GT3 RS with a roof box sounds tempting. If you go to a track day, you simply remove the box. The same thing happens on a road trip through the Alps if you stay at the same hotel for 2–3 days. If you only make short overnight stops, leave the roof box on the car.
Of course, you don’t want the roof box to get in the way when doing this or when heading to the track. This is exactly where the ASPHALTKIND roof box really shines. As our company founder, Nils Freyberg, put it…

Attaching the ASPHALTKIND roof box to the Porsche 992 GT3 RS

We are currently working with ASPHALTKIND on a solution that will allow the ASPHALTKIND roof box to be mounted on the GT3 RS. The solution will also work on other vehicles, such as the Lamborghini STO, Porsche GT3, McLaren GT, oreven a Koenigsegg.
