After it became clear that the 56° Nord roof box would not come to market , we decided to engineer our own roof box . This product is designed to withstand higher speeds while maintaining a strong focus on aerodynamics and design. After two years of development, we have finally achieved this: the realization of a roof box tailored for sports cars. Built for coupés, avants, estates, and SUVs.
We are pleased to announce that you can now order your ASPHALTKIND roof box . The first generation will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2022 and will initially be limited to just 100 units. Act quickly, as the initial batch of roof boxes has already been partially pre-ordered.
EDIT November 2019:
We tested various roof boxes for over a year. However, our standards were never fully met, as you can read in the test reports. Consequently, we set out in mid-2019 to develop our own roof box.
We combine perfect design, an aerodynamic shape, high stability, and low weight.
The special thing: We limit the car models on which we recommend the box. A detailed list will be available shortly. First of all, however, we plan to cover the majority of BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, and Tesla models. Even if the blog is currently a bit Porsche- and 911-heavy, this is due to the fact that this is our own car, which basically sets the bar very high, so that you no longer have to make any compromises with your model either.

Update on the 56 Nord roof box!
As we already announced in our post from December 2018 (read here), we are staying on top of 56 Nord. We still want to find out whether these ABS and carbon fiber roof boxes actually exist.
To get new information and get in touch with 56 Nord, we wrote countless emails, made numerous phone calls, and ultimately drove a lot of miles. But the effort was not in vain.
We got to see a carbon fiber roof box from 56 Nord. The aesthetics of the roof box are actually quite good. However, the overall impression was somewhat diminished by the build quality. It appeared that the box was a pre-pre-production model. Nonetheless, the concept of the roof box is cohesive. Our "research" also revealed that there is indeed a large market for sporty-looking roof boxes capable of handling speeds in excess of 130 km/h (approx. 80 mph). We spoke with many dealers, including those in other European countries, who would immediately add such a roof box to their lineup.
