The new Porsche 911 GT3 RS with the internal designation 992 no longer has any storage space. The special feature: The front trunk of the 992 GT3 RS is omitted due to the cooling units. As with the Porsche 991 GT3 RS, the space behind the front seats is reserved for the Clubsport bar or cage.
So if you want to take a helmet, some luggage and a passenger with you at the same time, you have to demonstrate packing skills by using flexible pockets in the spaces between the cages. When you arrive at the race track or, optionally, the wellness hotel, you unload again with great effort and, just like when loading, you can work up a sweat due to the limited space available.
The idea of solving the space problem with a roof box is obvious. Unfortunately, Porsche’s GT3 models do not have any fixation points for suitable base supports, as their high-performance relatives GTS or Turbo S have.
Engineering a solution for a roof box on the GT3 RS
The solution to the space problem on the 992 GT3 RS with a roof box sounds tempting. If you go to the track day, you simply demolish the box. The same thing happens on a road trip through the Alps if you stay in the same hotel for 2-3 days. If you only make short overnight stops, leave the roof box on the car.
Of course, you don’t want to be restricted by the roof box when doing this or when getting to the track. This is exactly where the ASPHALTKIND roof box shows its strengths. According to the quote from our company founder Nils Freyberg…
“We believe that you shouldn’t feel a roof box. Except that you can take more with you…
…and people are watching you.”
…during the development work and extensive testing of the box, full focus was placed on the factors of aerodynamics, stability, weight and design. These are the claims
- fast driving,
- little wind noise,
- low weight for a low center of gravity and great driving fun and
- “Thumbs up” from passersby
covered!
Connection of the ASPHALTKIND roof box to the Porsche 992 GT3 RS
The GT3 RS is designed for performance and emotions. Since the perfect route to find out about this doesn’t always start right on your doorstep, you can currently track on social media how many people actually have a space problem with the GT3 RS.
With ASPHALTKIND we are currently working on a solution with which the ASPHALTKIND roof box can be attached to the GT3 RS. The solution will also work on other vehicles, such as the Lamborghini STO, Porsche GT3, McLaren GTor even a Koenigsegg.
